Ross proved that the mosquito was responible for the transmission of malaria. On 20 August 1897, he found Laverans Plasmodium in the stomach of Anopheles mosquitoafter it had fed on the blood of malaria patients. See also the earlier paper in the same journal, 1897, 1, 251-255
