Independently of Ross and Milne, Dutton and Todd demonstrated relapsing fever in monkeys conveyed by infected ticks, Ornithodorus moubata.The organism was named Sp. (now Borrelia) duttoni. Both Duttin and Todd contracted the disease, and the former died of it before the paper was published.
